Home-Based Job vs Home-Based Business

Posted on Thursday 28 August 2008

Many men and women are looking for a way to make money from home to supplement their income. A couple of ways to do this is working for someone else via a home-based job or having a home-based business.

Home based jobs are quite hard to find. Though, they are possible to find, you will need certain qualifications in order to work for a legit company. If you are looking for a Data Entry job, you will need to take tests in order to prove your typing and input skills. You can also find Telecommuting jobs such as answering services. There are even places that will pay you to proofread, write and more. You can find these type of companies by searching the internet for work at home websites. Please remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it is. If an ad says that you can make thousands of dollars in a week, be aware. More than likely they will ask for money. A legit company will not ask you to pay for a work from home “job”. That brings us to home-based businesses.

Having your own home-based business is a great way to make money from home. You can become a representative for a company or create your own products. With some companies that offer representative positions, you may have to pay to join. Other companies offer their program free. When you pay to join, you may receive a kit of the products, a website, brochures, etc. This depends on each company. You would then make a percentage of each sale. Although, there is the potential for great earnings being a representative, the best way to make a profit with your business is to make your own products. If you have a tax id, you can find many of the materials to make your products at wholesale prices. I have found most of my materials at great prices on the internet.

Whether you decide to go with a job or a business, please do your research on the companies. You can do this by checking with the Better Business Bureau, other work at home moms/dads or by searching the internet for complaints and problems with them.

Church and State in Cyprus

Posted on Wednesday 27 August 2008

Cyprus is currently approaching something of a watermark After five years of stalled negotiations there is now a date set for Demetris Christofias, the Greek Cypriot President, to sit down and begin discussions with his North Cyprus counterpart, Mehmet Ali Talat. Under his predecessor, the opposed to reunification Tassos Papadopoulos, there was next to no dialogue between the Greek and Turkish sides of the divided island. The Annan plan, which was viewed as the most feasible and realistic plan for reunification was rejected in 2004. The plan was put to referendum; it was almost universally excepted in the North, but dismissed by Greek Cypriots. Papadopoulos was himself not shy with his opinion on the move toward reunification, but his influence was bolstered by the Greek Orthodox Archbishop Chrysostomos II. With the succession earlier this year of Demetris Christofias as President the political climate has changed, and long dormant discourse on the route to reunification has been revived. Christiofias has made public his goal of uniting the north and south sides of the island, and has dismissed the hitherto dominant attitude of nationalism that has characterised attitudes to the problem on both the Turkish and Greek Cypriot sides. However, with Christiofias now in charge and this September hosting the first direct talks between north and south there has been much speculation as to how the church, and Archbishop Chrysostomos II especially, will react to the emergent path toward reunification. Only recently did it look like the Archbishop would be a figure in the public eye who would hinder Christiofias’s attempts at diplomacy. Last Tuesday, at a conference for overseas Cypriots, the Archbishop had the Bishop of Paphos Georgios read out a speech on his behalf. In it, he lampooned the President for entering into a dialogue with the North, and compared the recent opening of certain sections of the Green Line with the opening of the gates for ‘atilla.’ On the day, Christofias rebuked the Bishops words and the left winger gave him a very public, very obvious dressing down. The question has lingered though: will a rift appear between church and state? If so, will it be this domestic discourse that threatens reunification at a time when Christiofias and Talat appear to be resolved to working together towards a blueprint of workable compromise. It is, after all, only four years since Chrystomos was responsible for a campaign that informed Greek Cypriots who voted in favour of the Annan Plan that they ‘will not go to heaven.’ Whilst the church might be letting its opinion known a recent survey found that a groundswell of opinion change has already made its way through the Greek Cypriot side. In a survey conducted for the Politis newspaper it was found that 75 percent of people wanted to see direct negotiations to be well underway by this autumn.

Gaming Notebook Prices to Go down Due to Greater Competition

Posted on Tuesday 26 August 2008

In my point of view gaming notebooks have lost their once sustained special title. I can think back to when they were not so popular. Basically as I remember they were not really the greatest selling laptop computers but as they were more significantly expensive they were the greatest revenue making units. Everybody wanted this type of laptop computer, but it was too costly. They the the most advanced technology and basically the best laptops. Gaming notebooks would get people excited in regard to what’s to be launched in a couple of years but I don’t think they would buy laptops like this whilst being aware the price is going to slip quickly. I reckon things are already shifting though and will continue to because the bigger companies are all coming into the sector.

They know there is profit to be taken here. They can control the niche.Currently the markup on the majority of laptop computers are so slim that this presents a great opportunity to roll back the gross margins. Multinational companies would certainly find it easier to get prospects to buy these laptops. I bet littler system builders are really concerned about this. This once exclusive technology is simply going to be directed at everyone now. Established manufacturers can use their brand names to easily win prospects over.

I believe they surely are manufacturing some of the best laptops available to buy. I reckon this would still be the encouraging benefit for local retailers though. Most of the time the pre built units are powerful but not powerful enough and a few people don’t take well to that. These specific potential customers are typically really acquainted with the technology and can compare each of the specs by themselves. For a few buyers, the specs and power would be way more significant than design.

For the buyer, this holds a lot of benefits. The competition amongst the multinational brands should force prices down when they attempt to separate from each other. I am not quite certain any of that would happen however. New laptop releases should sustain expensive prices. Although I still believe effects will be good due to the saturating sector, we will have to watch.

Marriage Or Prostitution?

Posted on Tuesday 26 August 2008

It is said that prostitution is the oldest profession in the world. To prostitute means to give someone the right to use the body for a sum. Do all the prostitutes sell their bodies for money only? Some might be selling their body for food, or a gift or something else. So, we can say that prostitution means selling the right to use the body for something in exchange.

I want to talk about a marriage where a woman sold her body for money and also few other things. She is the heroine of this story and lives in a conservative society, where pretenses are at times more important than truth. Our heroine was in deep love with a married man but had no guts to say so. Therefore she agreed to marry the villain of this story, a man who proposed marriage in front of her father. While getting married to this person, she cheated him. She lied to him by hiding her real love. But that is not the point of my story. Let me come to the basics.

Our heroine was married to the man/villain in full public view, so she had no reason to deny that marriage unless she divorced him. She never loved him, but carried on with this man and let him brutalize her in all the ways possible. At times, he raped her seven to eight times a night. Was this a marriage or did she sell herself like a prostitute for something?

Let me elaborate further. What did she get in return of giving away her body? Her parents had spent quite a lot of money on the wedding. If she divorced this man, her parents might have got a bad name in society. I am talking of conservative countries and not developed nations. So the first thing she gained by selling her body was the peace of mind her parents got by looking at their daughter. That peace was totally false, because the daughter was neither truthful to them nor to society. But even knowing all this, the parents had a peace of mind that the society thought about the daughter as a happily married woman. Let the reality be totally different. It were pretenses that mattered. So the first gain - False peace of mind for parents that society thought of the heroine as a happily married person.

There are many more things, all totally wrong that our heroine of the story got for selling her body. Let us look at some more. This girl had got a baby out of getting repeatedly raped by this man. The baby called this man/villain her father and it seems that the father loved the baby. Why and if it is really true, is known only to this man. But outwardly he showed love. A man who can brutally use a woman’s body repeatedly, can love anything living is impossible to comprehend. But this was shown to the society. Our heroine got her second payment as a man called father for her daughter out of rape.

What else? This man/villain said that he had no one else except our heroine in the world to call as his own. He knew it very well that the heroine was not in love with him, but had married him under compulsion of so many other factors. But he emotionally blackmailed her saying that if she left him, who else was there for him? Please therefore stay with me, keep the pretense of a married couple in public and let me rape you whenever I wish to do. The third profit was emotionally giving into the blackmail of a brute.

Let me list one more gain, though there were many more. Our heroine had no strength of character or guts to come open and say that I want to separate. She did not want to face the possibility of living alone. She did not want to lose her respect in the society. So she continued. And the biggest gain? Before I tell you about that let me add something. Our heroine was in love with someone else as I told you in the beginning. This man wanted her to come to him and denounce the marriage to the brute. He was desperate for that because he could not tolerate the rapes. They were killing him. But if our heroine does that what would she tell her daughter when she grows up? She had no guts to tell her daughter the truth. So she continued prostituting herself not only in body but also in mind, character and truth.

In the whole process, she managed to kill a person who was in deep love with her and could not tolerate the rapes. She gave him a bigger blow when he realized that she believed in living a liars life forever. This man got totally broken and might have killed himself, if God had not saved him. I wonder if our heroine, the brute or the parents will ever get any peace. Untruth never gives peace but shows the path to hell.

Who is a better person? A prostitute who openly trades or our heroine? Make your own decision.

The Day I Decided To Stop Gambling With Gamblers Anonymous

Posted on Sunday 24 August 2008

Everything was going perfect for me in life. Good job, good home, good life and good friends. Until one day some friends asked if I wanted to go to the casino. By the time I realized it, three years of my life were gone and I was in debt. It was time to quit.

The day I decided to stop gambling I was depressed and relieved at the same time. I couldn’t go on any longer. I thought all my hopes and dreams were shattered. I couldn’t tell anybody what I was going through. I was afraid that they would be disappointed in me. I remember the first day. I was nervous and anxious. I had a hard time focusing at work. This was not my first time trying to quit. I was sure I really wanted to quit, but wasn’t sure if I could quit.

The day I decided to quit I had no where to turn. I found it was difficult to talk to my family and friends about my problem. I began to do research and found Gamblers Anonymous. I wanted to give Gamblers Anonymous a try. I happened to have met a lot of nice people there. They welcomed me into the group and made me feel comfortable. I had tears coming down my face and my anxiety kicked in. I was very quiet buy my emotions were running wild inside. I made it through my first meeting and was somewhat looking forward to the next one. As each week passed new members would join and others would disappear. This became a weekly event. Who was going to come back and who was going to stay?

I continued to go to my Gamblers Anonymous meeting on a weekly basis. I was always afraid some one would recognize me. The turn over was extraordinary. Each week as I entered the meeting my heart began to race until I was sure I didn’t know any of the new members. It was the tenth week and an old co-worker of mine walked through the doors. We hadn’t worked together for over ten years. I thought about leaving but I decided to stay and try and work it out. Unfortunately he did not keep the Gamblers Anonymous code. He had told a friend who told another friend until it got back to me. It was unfortunate, but I dealt with it and moved on.

I and others unfortunately had other situations occur that were not very positive for us at Gamblers Anonymous. I still thank them for putting me on the road to recovery. From the first time I entered Gamblers Anonymous and followed up with the website I Stopped Gambling So Can You http://www.istoppedgambling.com/

I believe I am on the road to recovery. I take one day at a time and allow myself the option to gamble or not to gamble. This helped me to take control of my life. By allowing myself to make the choice the amount of stress on me has been significantly reduced.

A month after I stopped going to Gamblers Anonymous meetings, I ran into one of the members. He was curious at how I was doing and asked me if I would be there next week? I told him I would try and make the meeting. I popped in a few times more to tell them how I was doing. They were all glad to see me, but I wasn’t in compliance with the rules of Gamblers Anonymous, so I decided not to go back. In this particular group I attended, they have rules that do not allow a member to comment during therapy if they did not attend four consecutive weekly meetings. I respected their rules but realized it was time to move on. I told the group and thanked them very much for putting me in the right direction and left.

After this experience I created a website that would allow people to be themselves as they recover. This site is also the closest to anonymous you can get. There you will also find a private stop gambling chat room and a self help manual to help gamblers stop compulsive gambling addiction. The website is I Stopped Gambling So Can You http://www.istoppedgambling.com/.

My experience from Gamblers Anonymous meetings to now has helped me to stop gambling. I stopped so can you!

Mr. Howard Keith has an extensive background in dealing with compulsive gamblers, relatives and friends of gamblers and teenage gamblers.

Mr. Keith believes there are many alternatives to aid in the recovery of a gambling addiction verses a twelve step program. A large percentage of his emails were from compulsive gamblers looking for an alternative to Gamblers Anonymous and twelve step programs. Gamblers Anonymous also helps a significant number of people each year but there is a large percentage that does not stay. These are the people Mr. Keith is hoping to reach.

Its Mr. Howard Keith’s goal is to educate compulsive gamblers with options to help them beat their addiction.

Easy Work From Home Ideas - Quickstarts For Everyone

Posted on Friday 22 August 2008

Worthy efforts in offering great energy towards the completion of a challenging task and finding success through tenacity and intelligence and ultimately reaping that sense of accomplishment as well as the additional skills, abilities and experience that were acquired while overcoming difficult obstacles be damned. Today is all about easy. And what kind of benefits can one derive from easy? Let’s just put it this way; it’ll be nothing to brag to your psychiatrist about, but your accountant will be jealous. That’s right forget about all that fluff science, psycho babble that tries to talk one into the value of feelings of accomplishment, acquired knowledge, self awareness and the like. In today’s world the only true value has dollar sign in front of it (Aaah…well maybe a Euro sign would suit you better, but you get the point). So, initially you need to get that notion through your thick skull that says you want do something where you feel proud to tell others what you do. So, first stop that. Then start focusing on easy…and financially rewarding.

Easy work from home ideas are plentiful. You simply need to know what tickles your fancy and then put that idea right out of your mind, because we’re not here to have fun, we’re here to make money. Easily. And once we take our easy work from home ideas and translate them into sweet, sweet cash in just a moments time, we retire. Then you can think about fun.

And while you’re swinging in your hammock, sipping the most luscious nectar from the gods, watching the days pass lazily and lighting Cubans with dollar bills there’s one more thing that you can do to enhance the pleasure. Think about all those fools with their silly misplaced and misguided condescension at your home business still churning out thankless reports and products for some faceless despot while thoughts of downsizing dance through their heads. Think about that, move the little umbrella, take a sip and give thanks to easy work from home ideas and the cash, not the pride, they give you.

Galadriel Anderson takes you by the hand on your trip to find a new job. Find out about business at home jobs and easy work from home ideas.

Is Database Marketing A Good Thing?

Posted on Friday 15 August 2008

Database marketing is an important field. It allows a business to take advantage of names of individuals who may be interested in their products. These databases of people are often some of the best potential customers out there because they have already made purchases or shown interest in the products and services that you are providing. But not everyone likes these options and not everyone likes database marketing.

Database marketing is information that is compiled about people from their previous histories. For example, people who fill out such forms as charity forms, subscription forms, credit card inquiries and free products have their names and information gathered. This database of information helps companies to figure out what other potential product they may be interested in. Their names, addresses and other information are gathered and stored in a database that then will be sold to others.

What makes database marketing so keen is that it provides people with advertising and promotional information that has their name on it. This helps to strengthen advertising opportunities, giving individuals the belief that the product was picked for them. It is an excellent way to stay profitable because you are connecting with customers that have already shown an interest in this type of product.

Those against database marketing claim that there is a need for protection from junk mail and spam and that it is a violation of privacy to have individuals send them this advertising. Yet, companies who use database marketing feel that it is something that people want and even have requested. It is a great way for people to connect businesses and services to the customers who want them.

Whether you take advantage of these opportunities or not is really up to you. But, many businesses find it to be an excellent way to reach solid customers. And, because the information provided is not sensitive information, many people find no reason to not be in database systems.

Kids Fighting

Posted on Friday 15 August 2008

What do you do if your kids fight and argue with each other? Do you make a plea for peace, order the combatants to their bedrooms or lay the blame on the child who caused the infraction?

It is almost impossible to stay out of kids’ fighting because they are usually noisy and invariably one child will call on mum or dad to intervene.

My research indicates that sibling fighting is a concern to parents in three out of every four families with more than one child. Certainly this is the issue that most parents want to discuss when they come to my parenting seminars.

It is important to have a realistic attitude to children’s disputes. When adults live together under one roof there are bound to be disagreements. Why should children be any different? Conflict itself is not harmful, but the way disagreements are resolved is the issue that generally concerns parents.

Look at the nature of most disputes. They generally begin as a disagreement over some minor issue such as the choice of television programs, the result of a game or a refusal to share. I have seen my children fight over the earth-shattering issues of who should sit in the front seat of the car. The issues children fight over may be minor but the resulting disturbance of the peace can be extremely hard for parents to deal with. They often occur when we are busy and have little time to handle them effectively.

Kid’s fights usually have a number of predictable phases. The first is the quiet stage when one child annoys, niggles or even criticises another. The dispute enters phase two as the noise level rises and children become agitated or belligerent. The fight is now almost in full swing so parents need to brace themselves for stage three which is the moving phase when the fight shifts from one area of the house to another accompanied by the use of insults, shouting and door slamming. It may even become physical.

The fight usually climaxes when one or all parties involved come to you in tears, telling tales or looking for justice with that old line, “Mum, she hit me and I didn’t do anything.” It is probably time to reach for the walkman, turn the volume up on the television or make yourself scarce. Anything for some peace and quiet!

Fortunately, there are strategies that parents can use that dramatically reduce the amount, frequency and intensity of fights that happen in families. One simple preventative strategy is the use of regular team briefs. Once a week parents sit with their children in a quiet place and discuss family issues and concerns as well as talk about positive things that have happened in the past week. Invariably kids’ conflict and issues kids fight about are raised. This gives children both a voice and parents an opportunity to teach children how to resolve conflict reasonably and quietly. My research shows that families that have a conflict resolution process in place, such as team briefs or family meetings experience a significant reduction in kids fighting.

Screenwriting: Box Office Blockbusters Deconstructed

Posted on Thursday 14 August 2008

From our deconstruction of hundreds of Hollywood blockbusters and Academy Award Winners….

The Hero’s Journey is the template upon which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based upon. In fact, ALL of the Hollywood movies we have deconstructed are based on this template.

Understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters.

The Hero’s Journey:

a) Attempts to tap into unconscious expectations the audience has regarding what a story is and how it should be told.

b) Gives the writer more structural elements than simply three or four acts, plot points, mid point and so on.

c) Interpreted metaphorically, laterally and symbolically, allows an infinite number of varied stories to be created.

and more…
